Kingsford tennis upends Marquette 5-3
KINGSFORD — Kingsford pulled out a pair of 7-5 victories in final sets at No. 1 flights to upend Marquette 5-3 in a high school boys tennis meet held at the Flivvers’ courts on Thursday.
Kingsford’s Gavin Moore won 6-2, 7-5 over the Sentinels’ Chase Thomsen at No. 1 singles, while the Flivvers’ Isaac LeBeouf and Jacob Crockford won 6-3, 7-5 over Marquette’s Abe Kentala and Bode Helman at No. 1 doubles.
“Hats off to Kingsford,” MSHS head coach Karl Thomsen said. “We played them the other day and had a nice team victory. However, (on Thursday) they took it to us. My hope is we can use this as motivation and up our game for the stretch run.”
Marquette split in singles but lost three of four flights in doubles.
