Early registration closes Aug. 7 for 48th Lake Antoine Classic

IRON MOUNTAIN — The 48th-annual Lake Antoine Classic will take place Saturday, Aug. 16, at Lake Antoine Park, with races beginning at 9 a.m.

Race day registration and packet pick-up opens at 7:30 a.m. All proceeds will support the Dickinson-Iron Special Olympics, which benefits local athletes with intellectual disabilities. The 2024 event raised nearly $3,000 for this important cause.

This year’s Classic offers a variety of both competitive and non-competitive events to accommodate all fitness levels and interests. Competitive events include a 5K, 5-mile, and 15K run, while non-competitive options feature a 2-mile run/walk, 5-mile walk and 15K bike ride.

The 2-mile and 5K courses run along the scenic shoreline of Lake Antoine, while the 5-mile course circles the lake. The 15K route extends through the Fumee Lake Natural Area and shares approximately four miles with the Run Iron Mountain Half Marathon course, making it an ideal training run for the fall race.

Participants in the competitive events will vie for awards, with prizes for the top three male and female finishers overall, as well as medals for the top three in each age group. All volunteers and pre-registered participants will receive event t-shirts, and race-day registrants will receive shirts while supplies last.

New this year, thanks to Queen City Running Co., four lucky participants–one from each of the 2-mile run, 5K, 5-mile, and 15K events –will be randomly selected during the award ceremony to win a certificate for a free pair of shoes from Queen City Running Co., redeemable for any pair of shoes.

Every participant is automatically entered into the drawing for their respective race. Water and aid stations will be available along each course, and post-race refreshments will be provided by SuperOne, Walmart, and WP Beverages.

Registration is available now at RunSignup.com. Early registration ends Aug. 7, after which entry fees will increase by $5. Special Olympians race free, and children 12 and under receive a 50% discount.

Sponsors of this community event include Systems Control, First National Bank of Iron Mountain, Kwik Trip, Iwannago LLC, Suzanne Cattelan and Queen City Running Co.

Starting at $3.50/week.
