IM and Kingsford advance in Little League tourney
QUINNESEC — Iron Mountain and Kingsford will square off in the winner’s bracket at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at Quinnesec Park in the Michigan District 10 Little League baseball tournament for ages 8-10.
Action in the loser’s bracket is scheduled for today beginning at 3:30 p.m. with Escanaba facing either Tri-County (Trenary) or Iron County. Gladstone vs. Norway will follow at 5:30 p.m.
Kingsford advanced Sunday with a well-played 6-5 win over Gladstone. Iron Mountain blanked Escanaba 15-0.
Earlier in the tournament, Iron Mountain downed Norway 14-6; Kingsford defeated Iron County 22-0; and Gladstoned handled Tri-County 17-5.
The double-elimination seven-team tournament leads to a championship tilt at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. If the team from the loser’s bracket wins that contest, a final championship game is set for 5:30 p.m. Friday.
The schedule is subject to change, depending on weather. The winner advances to the state tournament in Tecumseh beginning July 26.
