NORWAY – The Norway Knights won all 14 tennis sets played and added another victory on forfeit as they dominated Munising 8-0 on Monday in Norway.

“The Knights’ depth and consistency across all flights helped them secure the sweep, showcasing both their veteran leadership and up-and-coming talent,” said Norway coach Cassandra Gustafson.

Jordyn Moln set the tone with a commanding 6-1, 6-0 victory over Mustang senior Madelyn Richardson at No. 1 singles. Ella Wojtowicz followed up with an equally impressive 6-0, 6-0 win against Kinley Hall at No. 2 singles and junior Tori Trudeau posted a 6-0, 6-0 sweep at the third singles flight.

No. 4 singles Jessa Rossler won her match by forfeit.

“Jordyn and Ella showed great composure today, sticking to their game plans while also mixing in new shot placements and strategies to keep improving,” Gustafson said. “I was really proud of Tori for pulling off a clean 6-0, 6-0 victory. She’s had some long battles recently, so it was great to see her earn such a decisive and well-deserved win.”

The Knights also controlled the doubles matches. In the top flight, Kara Stanchina and Lilly Tomlanovich defeated Munising’s Keira Albright and Tamryn Nolan 6-1, 6-2.

“Kara brings a dominant presence at the net, and Lilly is really feeding off that energy,” Gustafson said. “You can see her confidence and assertiveness growing with every match.”

Meanwhile, Marissa Pipp and Chloe Mitchem fought through a tight second set to claim a 6-2, 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles.

“Marisa and Chloe stayed mentally tough in that second set,” Gustafson added. “Even when Munising pushed back, they stayed composed and closed it out with confidence.”

No. 3 doubles duo Emily Carlson and Myah Gilroy blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0 and Lyla Tomlanovich and Amara Humphreys topped off the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 win.

“Emily and Myah kept their focus and never let their opponents gain any momentum,” Gustafson said of her No. 3 doubles pairing.
