IRON MOUNTAIN — At the conclusion of the match Tuesday night, the Kingsford Flivvers completed both their match sweep and their season sweep of the Iron Mountain Mountaineers.
Cassie Olson notched a team-high 11 kills, while Mckynzee Kreider contributed seven kills, eight assists, two aces and three digs and Karly Trevillian added 14 assists, two aces and four digs to lead the UPSSA Division 1-3 No. 1 Flivvers to a 25-11, 25-15, 25-21 win over their crosstown neighbors.
Kingsford coach Jaclynn Kreider said her players enjoyed the match and the atmosphere inside Mountaineer Gym.
“We have had a few weeks that seemed heavy lately, so this was a nice turnaround,” Kreider said. “The two student fan sections brought their own competitive vibe that kept the gym loud and entertaining. I am grateful to the Kingsford students that came out tonight to support us. I feel like we were able to feed off of their energy and it made for a fun evening of volleyball.”
The Flivvers (14-0) stepped out to a sizable lead in the opening set, something they did not do when they struggled against the Mountaineers (3-16-1) in their 25-23, 25-15, 25-17 win at home on Sept. 23.

Iron Mountain’s Ava Sardina (22) races to make a save Tuesday against Kingsford.
With her team in control, Kreider was able to play her full roster, except for her daughter Mylee, who missed the match with an ankle injury.
“The energy was high and we were able to get everyone to contribute,” Coach Kreider said.
In attack, Staysha Jarski recorded four kills for the Flivvers, Mya Brunswick added three and Emma Strom and Alyvia Kowalski chipped in with two each.
Alivia Nash fired a team-best three aces to go with three assists and 14 digs. Lakyn Wallis finished with 15 digs and Onika Smeester notched eight.
Jarski supplied Kingsford’s lone solo block.
No statistical information was reported for Iron Mountain.
The Flivvers will travel to Houghton Thursday to face the fourth-ranked Gremlins (7-5), who have dropped three straight matches, including a 25-23, 25-23, 25-20 setback at No. 2 Calumet on Tuesday.
The Mountaineers will play at Norway (10-7-2) on Tuesday.
Nordics 3, Rockets 0
At Felch Township, North Dickinson senior Raina Ledzian served a team-high eight aces and the Nordics recorded 14 overall in their 25-7, 25-12, 25-19 sweep of visiting Rapid River (3-8) in a Skyline Central Conference match Tuesday.
“Our serving was a huge help tonight, going over 90 percent from the serving line,” ND coach Taylor Johnson said. “It was a fun match where everyone got to contribute, which is always nice on Parents’ Night.”
In addition to Ledzian’s output, Dakota Massie and Aunika Lindholm served two aces each, while Tatum Cherubini and Dalaney Steinbrecher finished with one each.
Aubrey Applekamp and Cami Sleeter led North Dickinson’s attack with eight kills apiece, while Steinbrecher and Sleeter topped the Nordic defense with eight digs each.
The Nordics will shoot for four consecutive wins when they travel to North Central (2-10) today. ND won the first matchup between the teams 25-16, 25-22, 25-10 on Sept. 18 in Felch Township.
