Moore named POY in Division 1

ISHPEMING – Kingsford sophomore Aubrie Moore was named the U.P. Division 1 player of the year after capturing the 2025 singles title at the U.P. Finals meet on Oct. 1.
With her 6-2, 6-1 victory over Negaunee’s Liliana Saunders in the final, Moore completed her season undefeated. Moore was also part of the all-U.P. Division 1 first team and was named to the all-state Division 2 squad.
Kingsford’s Maddy Sleik was also picked to the singles first team, while Flivver doubles pairings Aubrey Bellmore and Kylee Woodward along with Alaysa Bacon and Mira Johnson were given honorable mention on the doubles team.
Other members of the singles first team included Saunders (who was named to the D2 all-state squad), Rheana Nelson of Negaunee, Samantha Ruby of Westwood, Morgan Schneider of Westwood, Anna Martin of Escanaba and Elena Murphy of Menominee.
Delaney Wagner of Menominee and Lyn Magnuson of Westwood were awarded honorable mention on the singles team.
Doubles teams which earned first-team honors included U.P. champions Clare O’Donnell and Nicole Kerkela (also named to the D2 all-state doubles team), Aubrey Elliot and Brooke Hackleman of Escanaba (D2 first team all-state doubles), Sadie Rogers and Olivia Richards of Negaunee and Kaylin Doney and Niila Nurmi of Westwood.
Other honorable mention doubles teams included Sophie Hill and Isabella Noblet of Escanaba, Eva Kentala and Lola Rink of Marquette, Ella Barker and Bianca Kurts of Menominee, Brianna Ary and Emily Schuettpelz of Menominee and Makenna Olson and Ella Stacy of Westwood.
Karl Thomsen of Marquette was selected as coach of the year.
