Nordics finish regular 8-player season 9-0
EBEN JUNCTION — After a four-point win against perennially strong Lake Linden-Hubbell in their season-opener, the North Dickinson Nordics have rampaged through the rest of the season outscoring opponents by 30 points per game.
That dominant trend continued Saturday when the UPSSA eight-player second-ranked Nordics traveled to Eben Junction and rolled over the Superior Central Cougars 56-14.
Brady Jungwirth threw four touchdown passes, while Trent Kramer, Toby Fleming and Jason Graham accounted for two TDs each and Toby King added a rushing score as the Nordics (9-0) built a 50-6 lead after the third quarter.
Jungwirth started the scoring blitz with a 10-yard TD pass to Trent Kramer just 1:45 into the game. Fleming then put his squad up by two TDs on a 34-yard scamper.
After Graham sprinted in from 59 yards, North Dickinson led 20-0 after the first 12 minutes.
The Nordics added to their advantage with three more scores before halftime. Fleming scored on a 37-yard run with 8:25 left in the half.
Just 49 seconds later, Graham hit paydirt with a 7-yard run and then with 24 ticks remaining in the half, Jungwirth connected with Ty King on an 8-yarder to give ND complete control at 44-6.
Trent Kramer hauled in a 10-yard pass from Jungwirth late in the third quarter to put the Nordics up 50-6 heading into the fourth.
Hayden Grunlund closed the scoring for ND on a 21-yard run with 3:35 remaining. The Cougars (3-6) put up a touchdown and a 2-point conversion to account for their final tally.
