IRON RIVER – West Iron County sophomore Grace Smith was named the all-U.P. Division 2 player of the year after winning the No. 1 singles championship at the D2 finals Oct. 1 in Kingsford.

WIC’s Kaycee Ingram and Erin Kolbas were also picked to the all-U.P. first team, along with Jessa Rossler and Ella Wojtowicz of Norway and Alysia Wood of Iron Mountain.

Norway’s Tori Trudeau and Iron Mountain’s Jacalyn Rowe were given honorable mention on the singles team.

West Iron’s top-flight champions Aubrey Richardson and Destiny Lemery led the all-U.P. doubles team. They were joined on the squad by teammates Olivia LaMay and Julie White and Norway’s Emily Carlson and Myah Gilroy.

Iron Mountain’s Keith Huotari was selected as the D2 coach of the year.
