Norway played at a fast pace and defeated North Dickinson 25-19, 19-25, 25-22, 25-20 in what could be the preview of a matchup in the MHSAA Division 4 playoffs.

“Currently, Norway is the No. 1 district) seed and North Dickinson is the No. 2 seed, so we knew it would be a close game,” said Knights coach Meghan Rossato. “We play our best at a fast-paced tempo and we went out there and made plays. Kendall Burklund and Aili Freiberg just connected this game, adding 26 kills and 45 assists. They were hard to shut down.”

Chloe Chartier also shined for the Knights (16-8-2) with 10 kills and two blocks.

“Ashley Carlson did a fantastic job of digging the ball right to our setter which makes setting up the ball so much easier,” Rossato said. “Addy Burklund did a great job of serve receive and being prepared.”

North Dickinson (16-11-2) coach Taylor Johnson said the Nordics had some bright spots, including a varied offense and a good serving performance.

“It’s hard to walk away on the losing side of such a competitive match, but there is a chance we may see them in districts next week, so we can definitely use this as a learning experience,” Johnson said.

In District 99, Norway will host the winner of Monday’s Hannahville vs. Carney-Nadeau match at 6 p.m. Wednesday. North Dickinson, meanwhile, hosts the winner of Monday’s Stephenson vs. North Central match, also at 6 p.m. Wednesday.
