Trojans head to regional VB championship match
Forest Park defeated Hancock in three hard-fought volleyball sets Tuesday, advancing to face Ishpeming tonight in a Division 4 regional championship match at L’Anse.
“Hancock proved to be a strong team with great depth in their front row,” said Forest Park coach Bobbie Anderson. “Honestly, I don’t think we played our best match … we struggled to find our offensive rhythm and to get all of our hitters involved.”
The Trojans eked out a 26-24 win in the opening set and went on to post 25-23 and 25-21 decisions.
“Our girls battled through every point and did what it took to come out on top.” Anderson said. “I’m incredibly proud of their fight and determination to the very end.”
Ava Fischer led the Trojans with 16 kills, while Evie Anderson anchored the defense with 19 digs.
Ishpeming advanced with a 3-0 win over Norway in a match played Tuesday at North Dickinson High School. The scores were 25-11, 25-12, 25-15.
