Kingsford will take a 3-1 boys basketball record into three road games next week, following a 62-54 win Thursday at Negaunee.

A three-pointer by Jett Buckley followed by a Jack Kriegl layup gave Kingsford a 35-28 lead heading into halftime. The Flivvers never trailed after that, although the Miners made several runs to cut it to one score.

Kriegl paced the Flivvers with 20 points, five rebounds and three assists. Gaige Sorenson added 16 points and four rebounds.

Buckley finished with 11 points and six rebounds while Owen Olkkonen added eight points and four boards.

“Alex Erickson and Matt Sundquist gave us great minutes,” said Kingsford coach Ben Olsen.

Easton Guenette led Negaunee with 25 points.

Kingsford will travel to Escanaba on Monday, West Iron on Tuesday and Marquette on Thursday.

Florence 35

Playing at home, Florence’s Truth Setner and Bowen Spears scored nine points apiece as the Bobcats fell to Northern Lakes Conference foe Laona-Wabeno.

“Tip my hat to the Rebels,” said Florence coach Bryan Bomberg. “They played solid all the way around. Lots for us to work on and I am confident this team will get better. We are a lot better than we are playing right now.”

Carson Chrisman and Kade Larson added five points each for the Bobcats. Bradley Steber netted three points and Carter Reed and Promice Setner had two points each to round out the Florence scoring.

Canton Chrisman led Laona-Wabeno with 18 points.
