Knights’ formula works again in rout of RR
NORWAY – During their recent four-game winning streak, the Norway Knights have combined big scoring from Anthony Pineda, supportive scoring from his teammates and a stingy defense.
That was the formula again Friday night when the Knights rolled over visiting Rapid River 70-23 in a Skyline Central Conference game. Pineda scored 11 of his game-best 27 points in the opening quarter when the Knights (4-2, 1-0 in the SCC-Large) stormed out to a 26-5 lead.
After the Rockets (2-4, 0-2 in SCC-Large) scored 12 in the second quarter, the Norway defense surrendered just three points in each of the third and fourth quarters to win going away.
In their last three victories, the Knights have surrendered just 76 points (25.3 ppg).
Offensively, Norway had two other double-digit scorers – Noah Pearson with 14 and Elliott Kraemer with 10. Kaleb LaPine chipped in with nine.
Next up for the Knights is a matchup against L’Anse (5-1) in the Michigan Tech Showcase on Tuesday, Dec. 30. The tournament pits teams from the SCC against squads from the Copper Mountain Conference.
