Flivvers make it 3 in a row

Kingsford held Negaunee to six points in the fourth quarter in a 52-40 non-conference win at home Thursday.

The Flivvers were led by Owen Olkkonen’s 15 points, including six in the final frame as the Flivvers built on a slim 38-34 lead after three quarters.

It marked the third win a row for Kingsford (8-4), coming off of 50-34 victory at Menominee and a 41-26 decision at Iron Mountain.

Jett Buckley totaled 10 points for the Flivvers, while Alex Erickson and Gaige Sorenson scored eight apiece. Jack Kriegl netted seven points and Matt Sundquist and Isaac Labouef added two each.

Easton Guenette led the Miners with 15 points and Tristan Slater contributed 12.

The Flivvers connected on 10 of 14 free throws and hit two 3-pointers — one each by Olkkonen and Kriegl.

Negaunee was 3 for 3 from the free throw line and totaled seven triples — two by Guenette in the third quarter as the Miners rallied from a 27-19 halftime deficit.

Kingsford will host Norway (9-6) on Tuesday and returns to Great Northern Conference action on Friday, hosting Escanaba (3-9, 0-4).

The Flivvers stand 2-2 in the GNC. Marquette is on top at 4-1.

Forest Park put four players in double figures, led by Izaiah Tarter and Lyle Price with 18 points apiece, as the Trojans improved to 10-3 overall with a win Thursday at Escanaba.

Vic Giuliani added 17 points and Daz Huuki totaled 11 for the Trojans, who buried 10 3-pointers.

Forest Park will Stephenson (10-3) on Tuesday and travel to North Central (4-7) on Friday.

North Dickinson 45

Norway 38

Trenton Kramer scored 16 points to lead North Dickinson past Norway Wednesday at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.

The host Nordics improved to 11-1 overall .

Anthony Pineda led the Knights with 13 points.

Jason Graham and Spencer Kramer added eight points apiece for North Dickinson.
