Florence drops close game at home
Florence struggled at the free throw line and lost at home to Wakefield-Marenisco 75-74 in a non-conference boys basketball game Thursday.
Truth Setner scored 25 points for the Bobcats, who trailed 35-32 at halftime. Carson Chrisman added 14 points while Bowen Spears and Kade Larson also hit double figures, netting 10 apiece.
Florence made four of 16 free throw attempts.
“We have to find a way to get stops and play smarter deep into the half,” said coach Bryan Bomberg. “Twenty-five percent from the free throw is not acceptable at this level,” he added.
Promice Setner contributed to Florence’s balanced offense with eight points and Bradley Steber scored six. Carter Reed sank one of two free throws in the first quarter.
Brock Pangrazzi, a 6-4 forward/center, paced the Cardinals (9-2) with 31 points.
Florence (3-7) was at Goodman-Pembine on Friday and will host Prentice on Tuesday.
