Forest Park nipped by Cards at Showcase

Forest Park rallied in the fourth quarter but it wasn’t enough to overcome a 12-point deficit as the Trojans fell to Wakefield-Marenisco 45-43 on Wednesday in the Copper Mountain/Skyline Showcase played at Houghton.

“We had some good moments defensively but we need four quarters of consistent effort,” said Forest Park coach Kim Bjork. “We didn’t do that today.”

W-M outscored the Trojans 14-5 in the third quarter to build a 35-23 advantage entering the fourth.

Forest Park was led by Tessa Bartoszek’s 17 points, including 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Rounding out the scoring were Vienna Price, eight points; Adee Hagglund, seven; Aubrey Waara-Shamion, five; and Evie Anderson and Lily Sarder, three apiece.

The Trojans converted 6 of 13 free throws while the Cardinals were 2 of 3.

Emily DelFavero led W-M with 16 points.

Forest Park (3-2) will host Kingsford (2-2) on Monday.
