Knights finish 2nd, 3rd at Marquette Mountain

MARQUETTE – The Norway Knights girls skiing team took second place and the boys squad placed third in the third conference race of the season held Monday at Marquette Mountain.

Along with the host Sentinels, Ironwood and Houghton, the Knights competed in both slalom and giant slalom races with a combined score determining the overall results.

The Knight girls posted solid results with Abby Hoy leading the way with a sixth-place finish in the giant slalom and a 10th in slalom. Teammates Annika Hill (8th in GS, 12th in SL), Sophia Fornetti (9th, 9th), Ingrid Holt (10th, 11th), Sofia Wentarmini (16th, 8th), and Arianna Fornetti (17th, 18th) rounded out the scoring.

On the boys side, Skylar St John paced the Knights by finishing 9th in the giant slalom and 8th in the slalom. Additionally, Levi Caruso (12th, 7th), Tyler Phelps (13th, did not finish), Connor Smith (14th, 11th) and Kieran Hempel (15th, 10th) all recorded solid results.

Marquette took top honors in the girls and boys events.

The next conference race will be held on Monday at Pine Mountain.
