NORWAY – One of Monday’s top girls basketball games, at least on paper, was the matchup between host Norway and Munising.
However, the game turned out to be one-sided as the UPSSA Division 4 fourth-ranked Knights handled the fifth-ranked Mustangs 51-32 in Skyline Central Conference play.
The Knights (10-1, 4-0 in SCC-Large) grabbed a 12-5 lead after the opening quarter and then lengthened it to 31-15 at halftime.
Norway extended its advantage to 44-23 after three before Munising (9-2, 2-1) cut two points off the Knights’ advantage in the fourth.
Lauren Adams paced Norway with 24 points, while Jessa Rossler added 11. Jordyn Moln knocked down two 3-pointers for six points and Paytan Carlson and Addison Burklund finished with five each.

Norway's Paytan Carlson (23) launches a 3-pointer Monday.
Addie Bowerman topped Munising with 14 points and Kaylen Kienitz contributed 10.
The Mustangs struggled from the free throw line, sinking just 6 of 18.
MUNISING – Curtiss 3 0-0 6, Kienitz 3 2-2 10, LaFlamme 1 0-2 2, Bowerman 5 4-14 14. Totals: 12 6-18 32. 3-point field goals: (Kienitz 2).

North Dickinson 42
Superior Central 19
While any coach would love an unselfish team, even that trait can be taken too far.
At least that’s how North Dickinson coach Kirk Mattson thought of his squad during Monday’s Skyline Central Conference victory over host Superior Central at Eben Junction.
“Very slow start for us,” Mattson said. “We probably moved the ball too much — I didn’t think that was possible — and we were not looking to shoot when we were open.”
So Mattson’s message at halftime after his squad scored 13 points in the first 16 minutes — including just two in the second quarter — was to be a little more selfish.
His players responded. Ava Oman knocked down a 3-point shot and two more buckets, while Aspen Anderson nailed a triple and another hoop to spark the Nordics (6-6) to a 14-5 third quarter run and build a 27-9 advantage.
The Nordics then recorded 15 points in the fourth period on five points from Anderson, four from Alyson Steinbrecher and a 3-pointer each from Aunika Lindholm and Raina Ledzian.
While the Nordics heated up in the second half against the 2-7 Cougars, they still are averaging just 35 points per game over their last five.
“We did get some good looks, but right now we are struggling to make a higher percentage of them,” Mattson said. “We did a much better job of that in the second half, and I was pleased with that.”
Oman and Anderson topped ND with 14 points each. Aubri Kroupa paced Superior Central with eight.
The Nordics are scheduled to travel to Bark River-Harris on Thursday.
NORTH DICKINSON – Oman 6 0-0 14, Lindholm 1 0-0 3, Ledzian 1 0-0 3, Steinbrecher 3 0-0 6, Roberts 1 0-0 2, Anderson 6 1-2 14. Totals: 18 1-2 42. 3-point field goals: 5 (Oman 2, Lindholm, Ledzian, Anderson).
SUPERIOR CENTRAL – Strohm 1 0-0 3, Johnson 1 0-0 2, H. Frusti 2 0-0 6, Kroupa 4 0-2 8. Totals: 8 0-2 19. 3-point field goals: 3 (H. Frusti 2, Strohm).
Forest Park 68
Carney-Nadeau 43
Elsie Williams and Vienna Price combined for 32 points as Forest Park rolled Monday to a Skyline Central Conference road win over Carney-Nadeau.
The Lady Trojans led 35-20 at halftime and outscored the Wolves 18-9 in the third quarter.
Forest Park connected on 10 of 29 three-point attempts. Adee Hagglund was 4 of 6, scoring all 12 of her points from past the arc. Williams’ game-leading 17 points included two 3s.
Rounding the scoring for Forest Park were Audrey Williams, nine points; Evie Anderson, eight; Tessa Bartoszek, four; Aubrey Waara-Shamion, three; and Dani Alquist, two.
Carney-Nadeau got 14 points from Kenna Thiry.
Forest Park (3-0, 8-4) was at Bark River-Harris on Tuesday and will travel to Kingsford on Thursday.
