Lady Badgers pull away from ND late
FELCH TOWNSHIP — Leading by just one point heading into the fourth quarter, the Niagara Lady Badgers outscored the host North Dickinson Nordics 13-7 down the stretch to record a 46-39 victory Tuesday at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.
Alivia Kleikamp led the way for Niagara (6-5) with 20 points. Sydney Swanson finished with 12 and Bristol Sanicki sank three 3-point shots and wound up with 11.
The Nordics took a 9-7 lead after one quarter before the Lady Badgers fought back to finish the half with a 21-19 edge. North Dickinson crept to within 33-32 after three quarters to set up the decisive fourth.
Ava Oman paced the Nordics (3-3) with 16 points, hitting four 3-point shots along the way. Khloe Roberts added 10 for ND, which sank seven triples in the contest.
The difference in the game came at the free throw line where the Lady Badgers hit 11 of 19 compared to North Dickinson’s 4 of 10.
The Nordics were slated to host Stephenson on Wednesday night, but the game was postponed. Their next game is Monday, when they host Bark River-Harris.
The Badgers host Wausaukee (0-8) tonight, seeking to go two games above .500.
