Nordics edge Trojans in SCC showdown

FELCH TOWNSHIP – Ty King scored 19 points and Trenton Kramer added 17 as the UPSSA Division 4 fourth-ranked North Dickinson Nordics nipped the top-ranked Forest Park Trojans 57-55 in a Skyline Central Conference showdown Tuesday at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.

The vital stretch of the game came in the third quarter. Down 29-21 at halftime, the Nordics turned the tables on the Trojans with a 21-9 run to take a 42-38 advantage into the fourth. Kramer spurred the rally with 10 of his 17 points.

The game stayed tight in the fourth quarter but the Nordics (10-1) held on for their eighth consecutive win, led by King who scored nine in the final eight minutes.

Forest Park took a 13-12 lead after the first quarter as Vic Giuliani recorded six points. The Trojans (9-3) outscored the Nordics 16-9 in the second period to head into halftime with momentum.

Dax Huuki scored six points in the quarter, while Giuliani and Izaiah Tarter added five each.

Giuliani paced FP with 17 points, Tarter contributed 13 and Lyle Price chipped in with nine.

For ND, King grabbed 12 rebounds, Trenton Kramer hauled down seven and Spencer Kramer recorded five. Brady Jungwirth directed the offense and finished with eight assists.

North Dickinson shot well, connecting on 23 of 44 field goals.

The Nordics were scheduled to face Norway (8-5) on Wednesday, while the Trojans are slated to travel to Escanaba to face the Eskymos (3-8) tonight.
