Florence dropped to 2-3 in the Northern Lakes Conference, falling on the road to conference leader Wabeno-Laona 77-47 on Thursday.

Florence trailed just 36-26 at halftime, but gave up 41 second-half points.

“First, credit the Rebels,” said Florence coach Bryan Bomberg. “I thought they played tough in both halves. We unfortunately played tough basketball for one half.”

The Bobcats got 16 points from Carson Chrisman, 13 from Truth Setner and 12 from Bowen Spears. Contributions also came from Promice Setner, four points, and Bradley Steber, two.

“We have to find ways to consistently score the basketball and get defensive stops,” Bomberg said.

The Rebels (12-2, 5-0) were led by Walker Winkelman’s 20 points.

“We are hopeful to see them again in the tournament down the road,” Bomberg said.

Florence (5-7) goes to Niagara (7-6) for a nonconference game Tuesday.
