LB Edwards

CHICAGO (AP) — Bears linebacker T.J. Edwards is expected to miss the rest of the season after he hurt his left leg Saturday night in a 31-27 victory over the Green Bay Packers in the wild-card round of the NFL playoffs.

Coach Ben Johnson said it looks like Edwards “had a fibula fracture which we’ll take him out for the rest of the season here.”

Edwards went down early in the second quarter after his left foot got caught up with the leg of Packers receiver Christian Watson and bent awkwardly. He was fitted with an air cast before he was carted away.

The 29-year-old Edwards was limited to 10 games during the regular season because of injuries. He returned an interception 34 yards for a touchdown in Chicago’s 42-38 loss at San Francisco on Dec. 28.

Edwards signed a two-year contract extension with Chicago in April.

Wisconsin beats

No. 2 Michigan

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — John Blackwell had 26 points, Nick Boyd scored 22 and Aleksas Bieliauskas set a career high with 17 points to lead Wisconsin to a 91-88 win over previously unbeaten, second-ranked Michigan on Saturday.

The Badgers (11-5, 3-2 Big Ten) beat their highest-ranked regular-season opponent since a win over No. 2 Michigan in 2019. They beat the AP poll’s No. 2 team on the opponent’s court for the second time since winning at Maryland on Feb. 13, 2016.

The Wolverines (14-1, 4-1) led by as much as 14 in the first half and lost because they gave up 54 points in the second half.

Michigan had a game-tying basket waved off by basket interference on Aday Mara, who followed up Roddy Gayle Jr.’s missed layup with 35.2 second left. The call stood after video review.

Braeden Carrington made two free throws on the ensuing possession after being fouled on a long, inbounds pass.

Carrington split a pair of free throws with 9.6 seconds left for a three-point lead that gave Michigan a shot to tie the game, but Gayle missed a 3.

ISHPEMING — Iron Mountain swept L’Anse on Saturday in a high school bowling match hosted by Ishpeming.

The Mountaineers won the girls match, 31.5 to 8.5: the boys match, 36-4; and the X Team encounter, 38-2.

Bills get

past Jaguars

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Josh Allen took a pounding, doled out punishment and delivered Buffalo its first road playoff victory in more than three decades, 27-24 over Jacksonville.

Allen found Brandin Cooks for 36 yards just before the two-minute warning and then capped the go-ahead drive with a 1-yard touchdown run in which Jacksonville let him score.

On the play before his score, Allen gained 10 yards on a sneak, refusing to go down while being pushed and pulled to the goal line. Allen completed 28 of 35 passes for 273 yards and two rushing touchdowns. He was sacked just once and played turnover-free football.
