Top-ranked Nordics win 10th straight
RAPID RIVER – Ranked No. 1 in the latest UPPSA Division 4 poll, the North Dickinson Nordics stayed hot with a 70-45 rout of host Rapid River in a Skyline Central Conference contest Tuesday.
With the victory, the Nordics extended their winning streak to 10 games. The Rockets fell to 7-9.
Leading by 10 at halftime, the Nordics (12-1) blew the game open in the third quarter by outscoring Rapid River 26-8 to increase their lead to 64-36 heading into the fourth.
For the game, ND connected on 27 of 40 shots (68%) overall and 5 of 9 (56% from beyond the 3-point arc.
Trenton Kramer paced the Nordics with 21 points while Spencer Kramer recorded 17 points, including 12 in the opening quarter when ND grabbed a 23-13 edge.
Ty King nearly recorded a double-double, finishing with 15 points and nine rebounds. Brady Jungwirth led the Nordics with six assists.
The Nordics, ranked 4th in the Michigan AP’s Division 4 poll, will shoot for an 11th consecutive win Friday when they host Bark River-Harris. The Broncos stood at 6-5 prior to Wednesday’s game against North Central.
