10U Iron Kings claim district title

The Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association 10U Iron Kings delivered a championship performance at Lakeview Arena in Marquette, earning the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association District 8 championship and securing a berth in the state tournament.

Competing against programs from across the district, the Iron Kings showcased disciplined team play, strong skating, and relentless effort throughout the weekend. Their path to a District 8 title included going undefeated in both the round robin, semifinals and championship games.

The tournament started Friday with a victory over Calumet 8-1, continuing Saturday with a morning win over Marquette 10-1 and afternoon victory over Copper Country junior hockey 4-2. In the Sunday morning semifinal game. the Iron Kings defeated Ironwood 5-2. The afternoon featured a rematch for the championship between the Iron Kings and Calumet, resulting in a 4-1 victory.

The MAHA State Championships are scheduled for Feb. 27 through March 1 in Manistique. The state tournament will bring together the best 10U Tier III teams from across Michigan, providing the Iron Kings an opportunity to compete on one of the biggest stages in Michigan youth hockey.

The Iron Kings continue their undefeated CUP League Schedule hosting Negaunee on Saturday with games at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Mountain View Ice Arena. On Sunday Feb. 22, they’ll host Marquette with games at 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. at Mountain View Ice Arena.
