Aubrie Moore scored 20 points, all in the second half, as Kingsford pulled off a 43-32 crosstown win at Iron Mountain on Thursday.
Cassie Olson added 14 points for the Flivvers, who improved to 14-2 overall.
Monroe Vedin led Iron Mountain (3-15) with 15 points.
“This game was a defensive battle,” said Kingsford coach Mike Cross. “We struggled to get going until the fourth quarter and that’s a testament to the Mountaineer girls and (coach) Chad (Lindeman). He had them ready to compete and we had a battle on our hands.”
Kingsford led 19-9 at halftime.

Khloe Jayne (24) of Iron Mountain looks to shoot against the defense of Kingsford's Madalyn Sleik (24) on Thursday.
“In the first half, our seniors really carried the team,” Cross said. “Cass Olson had 10. She’s been so good for us this year. Jazz Shaughnessy had five and Adelyn Normand had three. Without their contributions in the first half, the outcome would probably have been different.”
Moore, a sophomore, was able to score from midrange in the second half. “She is so good at that 15-foot shot,” Cross said. “I’m so proud of our girls, how hard they compete.”
Kingsford will host Gladstone in a Great Northern Conference game Monday. The Braves lead the GNC with a 7-0 mark while the Flivvers are 5-1. On Thursday, the Flivvers travel to Houghton.
Iron Mountain will be at Gwinn on Tuesday before going to Gladstone on Thursday.
