Florence, FP girls post victories

Florence had an off night from the free throw line but pulled off a 41-35 win at Niagara in a girls nonconference game Tuesday.

The LadyCats got 16 points from Kelsie Chrisman and 10 from CeCe Mills for the rivalry win.

Niagara was led by Sydney Swanson’s 14 points while Bristol Sanicki contributed 11.

The Badgers converted 12 of 17 free throws and Florence made 7 of 16. Florence’s halftime advantage was 20-19.

The LadyCats, (15-3, 4-2) will travel to Three Lakes/Phelps (10-4, 3-2) for a Northern Lakes Conference game tonight.

Niagara (9-10, 5-7) hosts Lena (16-1, 10-1) in an M&O Conference matchup Friday.

Playing at home, Forest Park got 18 points from Elsie Williams and held Munising to single digits in every quarter Tuesday.

“Great defensive effort by our team,” said Lady Trojans coach Kim Bjork. “We had balanced scoring … a good team win.”

In all, Forest Park put 10 players in the scorebook: Vienna Price and Audrey Williams, eight points each; Tessa Bartoszek, six points; Aubrey Waara-Shamion, five points; Harper Anderson, Adee Hagglund and Dani Alquist, three points each; and Evie Anderson and Rylee Johnson, two points each.

Munsing was led by Addie Bowerman’s 11 points.

Forest Park (10-5) travels to West Iron (4-10) tonight.
