Maddex Burklund, a senior at Norway High School, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career by playing football at Michigan Technological University in Houghton. Burklund earned recognition for first team All-Conference defensive lineman, first team All-Conference offensive lineman, first team All-Regional offensive lineman, first team All-U.P. offensive lineman, team captain, Norway Lineman of the Year Award and played a significant role in a Final Four playoff run and regional championship. He is a member of the Norway High School National Honor Society. "I'm grateful for this amazing opportunity and excited to make the most of it," Burklund said. "I want to thank my family and everyone who has supported me to reach this point and I'm looking forward to this next chapter," he said. "Maddex Burklund is the perfect example of what we would expect from a football player who goes on to play at the next level," said Norway head football coach Andy Mendina."The Norway football program is extremely proud of his accomplishments, and thankful for everything he has given to our program over the last four years. Nobody loves football more than Maddex, and I have no doubt he will be successful at Michigan Tech." Burklund plans to major in exercise science.
