IM girls reach top 8 in UP bowling

Sixty-one bowlers competed in the Upper Peninsula girls singles competition Saturday in Menominee, including eight from the Iron Mountain team.

Two Mountaineers advanced to the final eight in a match play championship, which was won by Ishpeming-Negaunee senior Sara Harvey.

Every girl bowled three games and the field was cut to the top 36. Those girls then bowled another three games with the top 16 moving on to match play.

Iron Mountain bowlers who qualified for match play were Marissa Campbell, who was seeded 14th with a six-game total of 779, and Alizabeth Richtig, who was seeded 15th with a six-game total of 778. Both IM bowlers advanced through the first round of match play before being eliminated.

Other Mountaineers reaching the top 36 were Noahlee Teraje, Laci Miles and Joleigh Osieczonek. Also competing were Lilah Schafer, Signe Trindal and Sabrina Pease.

The boys singles championship will take place Saturday at Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain.
