IM places 4 bowlers in UP’s top 16
A total of 73 bowlers competed in the Upper Peninsula boys singles finals at Recreation Lanes in Iron Mountain, including four Iron Mountain bowlers who qualified in the top 16 for match play.
Iron Mountain’s Lucas Steadman qualified as the 13th seed by bowling 972 through six games. He advanced through the first round of match play before being eliminated.
Other Iron Mountain qualifiers were Jaricho Hudson, 7th, bowling 1,022; Gavin DuBose, 14th, 960; and Logan Faucett, 16th, 948.
Just missing the cut for match play was Chase Hallman, 17th, 947. Iron Mountain’s Adam Niemi advanced through the initial cut to 48 bowlers and finished 27th.
The championship was won by Killean Ryan of Ishpeming-Negaunee. Joining him in the final four were Camden Grover of Westwood, Sean Buckmaster of Marquette and Aries Korsman of Ishpeming-Negaunee.
Bowling a two-game series through each round of match play, Ryan advanced to the title with scores of 340, 398, 367 and 385.
This weekend, the Iron Mountain boys and girls travel to Gaylord for regional matches in Division 2.
