Knights go cold late in loss to Esky

NORWAY – After scoring 22 points in the third quarter, the Norway Knights posted only three points in the fourth in a 44-41 loss to visiting Escanaba in a nonconference contest Friday.

After trailing 10-7 after the first quarter and 24-16 at halftime, the Knights outscored the Eskymos by 10 points in the third quarter to take a 38-36 advantage into the final frame.

But Norway (11-8) hit only one shot in the fourth quarter, a 3-pointer by Elliott Kraemer, as Escanaba (6-11) proceeded to record its second victory over the Knights this season.

Kaleb LaPine topped Norway with nine points, followed by Kraemer and Noah Pearson with eight each. Owen Baij and Anthony Pineda both recorded seven in the defeat.

Escanaba’s Hayven Sandoval-Nolde led all scorers with 21 points.

The Knights head back into Skyline Central Conference play tonight when they travel to Crystal Falls to take on Forest Park (14-3). The UPSSA Division 4 top-ranked Trojans defeated Norway 56-44 in the first meeting of the teams on Dec. 4.
