Murvich given honorable mention on GLHC team
CALUMET – Kingsford senior forward Will Murvich was given honorable mention by league voters for the 2025-26 all-Great Lakes Hockey Conference.
The Flivvers finished 2-4 in the league to finish tied for fifth. Jeffers (6-0) won the conference championship followed by Escanaba at 4-2, Marquette and Calumet both at 3-2-1, Hancock, along with Kingsford, at 2-4 and Negaunee at 0-7.
Escanaba senior forward Graham Johnson was selected as the Jim Crawford Player of the Year, Marquette sophomore Jacob Spagnuolo was named Rick Miller Rookie of the Year and Jeffers’ Aaron Helminen was picked as the Don Miller Coach of the Year.
The GLHC first team consisted of Jeffers senior forward Brogan Turner, Marquette senior forward Brody Sheldon, Calumet senior forward Nathan Londo, Escanaba senior defenseman Nolan Bink, Calumet senior defenseman Drake Niemela and Jeffers senior goalie Kasen Helminen.
Players on the second team included Escanaba senior forward Ben Sands, Hancock senior forward Kirby Storm, Calumet senior forward Erik Loukus, Jeffers sophomore defenseman Blake Heltunen, Marquette senior defenseman Brody LeMire and Marquette senior goalie Parker Nevenhoven.
Joining Murvich on the honorable mention list were Calumet junior goalie Beau Jukuri, Escanaba senior defenseman Owen LaBonte, Hancock sophomore forward Connor Helminen, Jeffers senior defenseman Griffin Heinonen, Marquette junior forward Seth Sandstrom and Negaunee senior forward Nolan O’Dovero.
