ND girls end short skid with win over Eagles
FELCH TOWNSHIP – The North Dickinson Nordics made sure their consecutive losses coming into Friday’s game against Stephenson would not reach three as they posted a 52-29 victory over Stephenson in Skyline Central Conference play at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.
Alyson Steinbrecher scored a game-high 18 points as the Nordics pulled back to .500 at 8-8.
Aspen Anderson contributed 14 and Raina Ledzian finished with seven.
“I thought we played a pretty good game offensively tonight as we had good balanced scoring,” ND coach Kirk Mattson said. “Aly Steinbrecher had a good all-around game tonight and so did Aspen Anderson.”
Mattson also credited Ava Oman, who scored five points, for her contributions.
“Ava Oman has been playing well also as she had a good three-game stretch of scoring for us and has really stepped up on the defensive side also.
After traveling to L’Anse and Munising last week, the Nordics will stay home for their next game tonight when they are scheduled to host North Central (6-7).
