Trojans flip script on Nordics
FELCH TOWNSHIP – In their first meeting of the season Jan. 20, the North Dickinson Nordics knocked the Forest Park Trojans off their perch as the top team in Division 4 with a two-point win in Crystal Falls.
On Monday, the visiting Trojans flipped the script with a 77-39 rout of the Nordics at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.
Vic Giuliani poured in 26 points, while Lyle Price knocked in 18 and Dax Huuki posted 17 to lead the UPSSA Division 4 No. 2 rated Trojans.
FP doubled up ND 16-8 in the first quarter behind Giuliani’s eight points and then pushed that lead to 32-13 at halftime on the strength of nine points from Price.
The Nordics, who saw their 11-game winning streak end, rebounded with their best quarter of the game in the third by outscoring the Trojans 21-16 to slice their deficit to 48-34, but FP dominated down the stretch by scoring 25 of the last 30 points.
Huuki posted 13 points in the second half to propel that run.
The Trojans were scorching hot from beyond the 3-point arc, burying 10, while the Nordics connected on just one.
Ty King led the Nordics with nine points to go with eight points each from Trenton Kramer, Brady Jungwirth and Spencer Kramer and five from Jason Graham.
It doesn’t get any easier for the Nordics Friday when they take a trip to Marquette to face the D1-3 second-ranked Sentinels (8-7). The Trojans will travel to Superior Central (9-6) on Thursday.
