The Dickinson Amateur Hockey Association 10U Iron Kings returned home from Manistique with more than memories — they brought back a state championship.

Competing in the Michigan Amateur Hockey Association Tier III State Tournament at Little Bear West Arena in Manistique, the Iron Kings delivered a dominant five-game performance to capture the title and cement their place among the top youth teams in Michigan.

From the opening puck drop, the Iron Kings played with energy and confidence. In their first matchup against Petoskey, Dickinson wasted little time showing they were ready for the moment. A stunning flurry of goals early in the first period quickly shifted momentum in the Iron Kings’ favor and the team never looked back, skating to a convincing 9-1 victory.

The next morning brought another statement performance. Facing the Trenton Blades, the Iron Kings showcased their depth and teamwork in a commanding 12-0 win. Goals came from across the lineup as the Iron Kings controlled the pace of play from start to finish while goaltender Emmett Tirschel secured a shutout, turning aside every opportunity that came his way.

Later that afternoon, the challenge intensified against Royal Oak. The Iron Kings continued to play with speed and discipline, moving the puck well and capitalizing on scoring chances. The Iron Kings steadily built their lead and skated away with an 8-1 victory, punching their ticket to the semifinal round.

In the March 1 semifinal, the Iron Kings were matched to play the host Manistique Emeralds. Having faced Manistique during league play previously in the season, the stage was set for an aggressive and emotional matchup. The Iron Kings controlled the tempo, combining aggressive forechecking with disciplined defensive play to advance to the championship in front of a spirited Manistique crowd by a score of 6-2.

The title matchup set the stage for one final test — and the Iron Kings delivered once again.

Facing Petoskey in the championship game, the Iron Kings came out focused and determined. As the game progressed, the DAHA team continued to press the attack. When the final horn sounded, the scoreboard read 8-1 and the Iron Kings had secured the MAHA Tier III state championship.

Over the course of the weekend, Dickinson outscored its opponents 43-5 — a reflection of the team’s balance, depth, and commitment to playing together.

For head coach Tim Jaska and the coaching staff, the victory represents the culmination of a season built on development, teamwork, and perseverance. For the players, it is a moment they will remember for years — a weekend when hard work paid off and a small community team rose to the top of the state.
