HERMANSVILLE — Six people were inducted into the Gold Medal Classic Hall of Fame during the recently completed 87th tournament.

The inductees included Michelle Bal from Carney and Norway, who said the tournament is a big thing for the local community.

“I didn’t know they had a Hall of Fame,” Bal said. “This tournament has a lot of backing and it is always fun to come here and spend time with friends and people in our community — that is what makes this tournament special.”

Lee Vincent was also inducted. Vincent began playing in 1971 when he was a senior in high school and played into his 50s.

“It was just Class A and B at that time,” Vincent said. “You look at how this has evolved into all the classes, including junior high. It’s really a special tournament for this community and for the other local communities that participate as well.”

Tom Granquist of Powers was also inducted this season. Granquist has been involved in the tournament as a player, an official, or taking on whatever needs to be done.

Other inductees included the McNeil Oilers of Crystal Falls, Kurt Ekberg of Powers, Brian Lindeman of Channing/Felch and the late Dage Murray of Powers.

Editor’s note: A listing of posthumous Hall of Fame inductees in the March 20 print edition of The Daily News was in error.

Starting at $3.50/week.
