Marian University baseball (6-7, 1-1) fell 2-0 in its Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opener at Rockford, Illinois, before a convincing 10-4 win to salvage a split on Saturday.

Marian junior Carson McLean (3-0) of Iron Mountain earned the win in game two, tossing the final five innings. He scattered five hits and allowed just one run while striking out three and walking none.

For the season, McLean has worked 18.1 innings with a 3.93 ERA.

Marian continues conference action on Wednesday against Milwaukee School of Engineering (11-4, 2-0) in Glendale, Wis.

The Sabres will be at home Saturday at the Fond du Lac Baseball Complex for a conference doubleheader against Illinois Tech.
