FELCH TOWNSHIP – The North Dickinson Nordics jumped on Stephenson early and never let up in their 60-30 victory in a MHSAA Division 4 District 99 matchup Monday at Carl F. Lemin Gymnasium.

Raina Ledzian, Alyson Steinbrecher, Khloe Roberts and Aspen Anderson all hit two shots in the opening quarter when the Nordics built a 16-4 advantage.

Steinbrecher added eight more points in the second quarter to spark her team to a 36-11 lead at halftime.

“Nice start to our district tournament tonight,” ND coach Kirk Mattson said. “We played with a lot of energy and got off to a fast start.”

The Nordics (12-9) added two points to their lead in the third quarter to go into the fourth with a 49-22 cushion.

ND won the fourth quarter 11-8 to account for the 30-point margin.

“Our scoring was very balanced tonight, and we were very unselfish on offense,” Mattson said. “We created a lot of live ball turnovers that led to good transition opportunities that we were able to finish on.”

Steinbrecher led all scorers with 14 points. Anderson finished with 12, while Ledzian recorded nine and Ava Oman posted eight.

Lily Behnke paced Stephenson (4-17) with seven.

With the victory, the Nordics advance to face Forest Park in the semifinal round tonight at Eddie Chambers Gymnasium. The Lady Trojans (14-7) swept the regular-season series with a 41-35 road win on Jan. 13 and a 44-29 home triumph on Feb. 12.

Tonight’s winner will earn a spot in the district final where they were meet the winner of the Norway-North Central matchup.
