Badgers earn baseball, softball wins at Gillett
Niagara traveled to Gillett and came away with five-inning wins in both baseball and softball in M & O Conference action Friday.
Badgers pitcher Dwight Hedmark tossed a one-hitter, fanning eight and walking none in a 13-0 victory over the Tigers.
Landon Sweig and Remington Buchanan each contributed a double and drove in two runs each as the Badgers improved to 2-0. Abain Patterson collected two singles for Niagara.
In the softball game, Niagara (2-1, 1-1) trailed 3-2 early, but exploded for 11 runs in the third inning for a 15-3 win.
“We continue to put the bat on the ball and generate runs,” said coach Emily Payette.
Shelby Zittlow led the scoring parade with a triple and two singles, driving in three runs. Zowie Loukus and Elesia Sweig added three singles apiece, and Grace Payette doubled.
The Badgers drew seven walks in the contest.
Sweig pitched 4 1/3 shutout innings, sharing mound duties with Jaelyn Kleikamp.
