Bobcats sweep Hornets

Florence found enough offense to defeat Elcho 5-2 in Northern Lakes Conference baseball Thursday, then cruised to a 21-3 five-inning win in a second game.

Bradly Steber pitched the opener, allowing three hits across seven innings. He walked two and struck out seven.

The visiting Bobcats scored four runs in the first inning and plated another in the third. The Hornets’ runs came in the bottom of the sixth.

Florence totaled seven hits, including three singles from Carson Chrisman, a triple and single by Carter Reed and a double by Mason Koski. Promice Setner added a single and two RBIs.

A 13-hit barrage in the nightcap was highlighted by a Koski home run and single. Contributing two singles each were Kade Larson, Logan McCoy, Steber and Reed, who had four RBIs. Kolton Campbell doubled.

Also hitting singles were Beau Bartz and Setner, both freshman.

Koski pitched three innings, allowing a run and fanning four. McCoy worked the final two innings, allowing two runs and whiffing three.

Florence, 7-1 in the Northern Lakes Conference, will travel to Laona-Wabeno on Tuesday. A conference home game versus Crandon that was postponed this week has been rescheduled to May 26.
