Edwards, Zeuske take golf honors at IM Invite
IRON MOUNTAIN — The Iron Mountain Golf Invitational took place Monday at Pine Grove Country Club as the Mountaineers hosted the Kingsford and West Iron County boys and girls teams.
Medalist for the boys was Owen Edwards of Kingsford, who shot a 79 over the 18 holes. Edwards won a tiebreaker over teammate Jordan Bray, who also shot 79.
Third place was Kingsford’s Domenic Grenfell at 82.
Rounding out the Flivvers’ boys team was Evan Scott with an 83 and Owen Olkkonen and Lucas Menza each shooting 85.
Iron Mountain’s boys were led by Tim Recla shooting an 85, with Max White carding an 87, Lane Wender, 95, Colin Punzel, 96 and Brayden Kassin, 99.
West Iron County was led by Ryan Dallavalle firing an 87, followed by Dominic Mottes with an 90, Colin Fritz, 92, Alex Ghiggia, 96 and Jared Pietila, 97.
For the girls, medalist was Maddie Zeuske from Kingsford with a 90 followed by teammate Lauren Ghere shooting a 96. Third place, in a tiebreaker, went to Charlotte Todd of Kingsford who totaled 103.
Iron Mountain golfers were led by Olivia Fleming with a 103, followed by Monroe Vedin with a 105 and Grace Webb with a 116.
West Iron County’s leader was Erin Kolbas with a 110 followed by Ella Holm, 116, Rory Jacobson, 133, Grace Smith, 134 and Haliegh Lamay, 143.
Iron Mountain golf team now heads to Manistique for the Mid Peninsula Conference finals and Kingsford goes to Marquette for the GNC finals. West Iron County travels to Portage Lake Golf Course in Houghton for the West Pac finals.
All three teams will be at Sweetgrass and Sage Run on Wednesday, May 26, for the Division 1 U.P. Golf Finals.
