Florence, Niagara advance in WIAA baseball tourney

Florence and Niagara will play in WIAA Division 4 baseball regional semifinals Tuesday following convincing wins Thursday.
Niagara hosted Pembine-Goodman and came away with a 12-0 win in five innings. The Badgers will travel to face Laona-Wabeno at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Rebels advanced Thursday with 14-4 win over Wausaukee.
Playing at home, Florence eliminated White Lake 25-1 in five innings. The Bobcats will host Lena at 5 p.m. Tuesday. The Wildcats won their regional opener 13-5 over Bowler.
Regional finals will be played Wednesday.
With a win Tuesday, fifth-seeded Niagara would face either Rib Lake or Marinette St. Thomas Aquinas. Third-seeded Florence, meanwhile, would play either Prentice or Gibraltar-Washington Island.
Rib Lake is the No. 1 seed and Gibraltar-Washington Island is the No. 2 seed.
Sectional champions will be determined June 9.
