Former IM athlete launches youth wrestling program
IRON MOUNTAIN — Local wrestling athletes will have a new opportunity to train this summer with the launch of Elevation Wrestling, a summer wrestling program created by former Iron Mountain High School wrestler and current Lakeland University college athlete Evan Haferkorn.
The program will run from June 1 through July 30 and will hold practices every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday throughout the summer. Elevation Wrestling is focused on helping athletes improve their wrestling skills, build confidence, and develop discipline both on and off the mat.
Haferkorn, an Iron Mountain High School alumnus, has competed at the collegiate level for the past three years at Lakeland University and hopes to bring his experience back to the local wrestling community.
“My goal is to help young athletes continue to grow in the sport while creating a positive and hardworking environment,” Haferkorn said. “Wrestling teaches lessons that go far beyond competition, and I’m excited to give back to the community that helped me develop as an athlete.”
Elevation Wrestling welcomes athletes looking to improve during the offseason and continue building their skills heading into future competition.
