Kingsford (10-4) will face Traverse City St. Francis (13-4-2) on Friday for the MHSAA District 33 girls soccer title in Division 3.

At Flivver Field, Kingsford defeated Cheboygan 5-0 on Tuesday to move on to the championship game in Traverse City.

Senior Ingrid Holt started the scoring, receiving a pass from Avery Edwards and shooting an outside shot straight into the net for the first goal.

Moving into the second half, Clara Grymes passed to Aubrie Moore for Kingsford’s second goal. Edwards then had a precise corner kick that Kelsie Haelterman directed to Sophia Touchett for a short kick into the net.

For the fourth point, Sofia Tappy received a pass from Moore in center field at the 40-yard- line for a soaring score over the keeper’s head. Moore assisted on the fifth goal, passing to Clara Grymes for a left-side score.

“It was a hot but hard-earned win for the Flivver girls,” said coach Jenette Gunville. “Defenders Avery Edwards, Jordan Maenpa, Abby Hoy, and Lexi Gunville — along with goalie Kylie Woodward — were able to keep the score at zero. Every Flivver girl was able to contribute,” she added.

Traverse City Francis advanced to the district title game with a 6-1 win Tuesday over Boyne City.
