Knights unbeaten in Skyline

Norway stayed perfect in Skyline Conference baseball with a 10-0 and 13-6 doubleheader sweep against Stephenson at Make Maule Field.

Hunter Langin pitched a two-hit five-inning shutout in Monday’s opener. He whiffed seven and walked none.

The second game went six innings as the Knights trailed 6-3 before exploding for 10 runs in the bottom of the fifth.

“Hunter Langin was extremely efficient on the mound in game one and our offense was steady,” said Norway coach Tony Adams. “Our kids focused in the fifth inning in game two and a big inning was the result.”

Elliott Kraemer cracked two singles in the opener as the Norway offense was aided by nine walks. Cameron Varda, Tristan Lessor, Owen Baij and Kellan Amundson also had hits.

The Knights totaled eight hits and drew 10 walks in the nightcap. Baij rapped four singles and Varda hit a solo home run. Landon DeBakker, Tobi Anderson and Trenton Halvas added singles.

Carter Cazzola, Lessor, DeBakker and Baij shared the pitching duties, allowing four earned runs and fanning 11.

The Knights left four runners on base in the opener, but stranded 11 in the second game.

“Overall, our execution, focus, and energy needs to improve,” Adams said.

The Knights stand at 14-5 overall and 8-0 in the conference.
