North Dickinson’s Aunika Lindholm placed first the 1600-meter and 3200-meter runs and anchored a 3200-meter relay win as the Nordics captured the girls title Friday at the Norway Track Invitational.

Lauren Adams of Norway swept the 100, 200, and 400 dashes, but the Knights placed only sixth as a team. Florence-Niagara finished fourth behind Bark River-Harris and Stephenson.

“A lot of things went our way today,” North Dickinson coach Mike Roell said. “A lot of kids stepped up. The kids really competed.”

The Nordics’ Alaiya Schemmel and sophomore Alyson Steinbrecher went 1-2 in the 800.

Schemmel was clocked at a personal-best 2:40.08 with Steinbrecher recording a season-best 2:40.42 and sophomore Aspen Anderson took pole vault at 7-6.

“Aunika did a nice job winning the 1600 and 3200 and helping our longer relays take first,” Roell said. “Aspen winning pole vault and going 1-2 in the 800 was also huge.”

The boys meet went to Rapid River, while Bark River-Harris placed second. Florence-Niagara edged Norway for third as each squad posted two relay wins.

Norway’s Anthony Pineda (200 dash) and Josh Schiltz (discus) registered individual wins, along with Florence Niagara’s Christian Anderson (800) and Jaxon Courts (3200).

Gionni McDonough of Bark River-Harris got four wins as he dominated the hurdles and the long jump and edged Jared Huskey of Bark River-Harris in the 100.

Coen Smith, in the high jump, had Rapid River’s only first. The Rockets, however, claimed 11 second-place finishes.

In the girls meet, Florence-Niagara’s Kelsi Chrisman captured the long jump and placed second to Adams in both the 100 and 200.

This marked the first home meet in nine years for the Knights.

“Everything is all set, thanks to our referendum,” boys’ coach Al Trudeau said. “It’s great to be able to host a meet. Our students, physical education instructors and community members will be able to use it. We’ll be set for a long time. We have lots of help which is awesome.

“Our guys did all right. Our sprint relays went real well,”

“It’s an awesome track,” Bark River-Harris boys’ coach William Soper said. “I’d be happy to come back here.
