Gibraltar-Washington Island ended Florence’s season with a 10-4 decision in a WIAA Division 4 regional baseball final Wednesday in Fish Creek, Wis.
The Bobcats (14-7) fell behind 7-0 after two innings and closed the gap to 7-3 in the sixth before the Vikings (20-6) added three insurance runs.
“Certainly a fun season with a great group of players and coaches,” said Florence coach Kris Johnson.
The Bobcats managed four hits Wednesday, including a double and single by freshman Promice Setner.
Logan McCoy, also a freshman, belted a double and sophomore Carson Chrisman singled. The Bobcats drew six walks and left eight runners on base.
Gibraltar-WI was led at the plate by senior Aaron Brey, a Carroll University recruit who slugged a home run and two singles.
Florence starting pitcher Bradly Steber was relieved by McCoy with one out in the second inning. They allowed nine hits and seven earned runs while walking three and striking out three.
Florence should return much of its roster for 2027 after graduating Kolton Campbell, Truth Setner and Jack Koester from this year’s squad.
