Carney’s Eichhorn ranks 5th as Korn Ferry heads to Illinois

Hunter Eichhorn

The Korn Ferry Tour will come to Panther Creek Country Club in Springfield, Ill., on Thursday as Carney’s Hunter Eichhorn stands fifth in the season’s points race with $356,338 in earnings.

Earlier this month, Eichhorn, 27, a rookie, turned in a final-round bogey-free 64 and placed fifth at the OccuNet Classic presented by Amarillo National Bank in Amarillo, Texas. It was Eichhorn’s third top-five finish and his seventh top-10 in 14 starts this year.

Eichhorn, a former Marquette University star, placed second at the Visit Knoxville Open that concluded May 24 in Knoxville, Tenn. He carded a career-low 10-under 61 to force a playoff with eventual winner Doc Redman.

“I’m happy with where I’m at on the list at this point in the season,” Eichhorn told Wisconsin Golf after the Holston Hills Country Club event. “(I) just need to stay focused on the right things and keep taking it one day at a time.”

The top 20 golfers at the end of the year earn PGA Tour status.
