Escanaba to host Legion baseball
ESCANABA — The Gregg Johnson/Al Erickson Memorial American Legion baseball tournament will take place this weekend with 10 teams making the trip.
Games will be played Friday and Saturday at The Bay College Field in Wells and Al Ness Field in Escanaba. The semifinals and championship game will take place at Al Ness Field on Sunday.
The 10 teams are split into two pools. Pool A consists of Escanaba, Niagara, Kewaunee County, Sheboygan and Sault Ste Marie. Pool B consists of Marinette, Plover, Kingsford, Soo Black Sox and Negaunee.
Plover has had a great deal of success at this tournament over the years but Negaunee and Marinette will give Plover a good challenge in Pool B. Kewaunee County along with Niagara and Escanaba are the three teams in the best position in Pool A.
