IM’s McLean named Academic All-District

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Carson McLean, a junior from Iron Mountain, was one of three student-athletes from the Marian University baseball program named Academic All-District by College Sports Communicators.
The CSC Academic All-American program recognizes student-athletes for their efforts both in competition and in the classroom. To be eligible, a student-athlete must compete in 90% of games, or start in at least 66% of games, and attain a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.5. They must also hold at least sophomore standing at their institution. Pitchers must have made at least 17 appearances or logged at least 35 innings.
McLean was one of the most utilized arms for the Sabres to earn his first CSC Academic All-District honor. He was the winningest pitcher for Marian going 4-1 and appearing in a team-high 14 games with 40 total innings pitched.
In one of his two starts this season, McLean led Marian to a win over St. Vincent allowing two earned runs over six innings of work. It proved to be his second win of the annual spring trip.
Then, at Rockford, he went five innings to earn a win allowing only one earned run. His fourth win of the season came against Dominican where he threw five innings of relief and allowed just one unearned run scattering three hits and striking out a season-high six hitters.
