The Kingsford Greens successfully defended their American Legion state baseball title in Class A, defeating Breckenridge 11-1 in six innings Sunday in Adrian.
The Greens on Saturday had defeated Breckenridge 8-5 to force Sunday's winner-take-all championship game.
Kingsford's Andres Finley earned MVP honors, batting .600 through the tournament while collecting 12 hits.
The Greens took an unusual path to the title after losing their opener on Thursday 5-2 to North Branch. On Friday, North Branch was disqualified from the tournament during its winner's bracket game against Breckenridge after its roster drew a protest.
According to RRN Sports, it was determined that North Branch had drawn from a population base that was too large under Legion Class A rules.
Kingsford's loss, nonetheless, remained on the books. It forced the Greens to defeat Breckenridge twice to earn the championship. Kingsford had advanced Friday through the loser's bracket with wins over Stevensville-Lakeshore and Hudson.
In Saturday's contest against Breckenridge, Jack Kriegl earned the victory on the mound, pitching 5 2/3 innings. Finley got the final four outs and collected four hits and four RBIs.
Also on offense, Cameron Varda ripped a triple and single and Trent McLain added a pair of hits and drove in two runs.
McLain pitched Sunday's victory, allowing just two hits.
Kingsford led 3-1 before exploding for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth. Landon Ross drove in the clinching run in the bottom of the sixth with a sacrifice fly.
The Greens won the 2025 Class A Michigan state championship with an 8-4 win over Stevensville-Lakeshore in Stevensville.
