A five-run two-out rally in the bottom of the sixth inning earned Kingsford the Michigan District 10 championship in the Majors (ages 10-12) division on Thursday at Marion Park in Norway.

Iron Mountain led 9-5 going into the final inning, led by a pair of three-run doubles by Hunter Leonoff.

Kingsford plated two runs with two outs in the sixth before a base hit by Luca Cory drove in a pair of runs to tie the game. The winning run was scored on a wild pitch.

A win by Iron Mountain would have forced a final championship game today. Iron Mountain had advanced through the loser’s bracket with a win Wednesday over Gladstone.

The state tournament will be hosted by Tecumseh beginning July 24.
